"Representation Theory and Particle Physics"

The (strongly-coupled) physics of most Quantum Field Theories with extended supersymmetry may be understood in terms of the Representation Theory of an associative algebra A (or, more intrinsically, in terms of the derived category D(A-mod)). This allows to set up a rather detailed dictionary between the two subjects; results which appear to be obvious in one language look quite surprising and sophisticated in the other one. Elementary physical consistency requires a lot of extraordinary `theorems' to be true in Representation Theory; for certain classes of algebras (roughly, the ones of /tame/ representation type) these statements corresponds to celebrated theorems by Ringel and others; however their physical counterparts follow from universal arguments which must hold in much broader generality (also in view of their Algebro-Geometric interpretation). Elementary examples of this state of affairs will be provided.

"Spherical Hopf algebras and fusion categories"

We will introduce the definition of spherical Hopf algebras and spherical categories. Also we will recall the definition of a fusion category. We will see a way to obtain fusion categories from spherical ones, and discuss possible techniques to find the fusion rules, related with methods applied to quantum groups at roots of unity.
