Giovedì 15 Settembre 2016 alle ore 14:00 in Aula 1BC50, Paula Balseiro (Universidade Federal Fluminense, Niterói, Brasil) terrà un seminario dal titolo “On Hamiltonization and Conserved Quantities in Nonholonomic Mechanics”.
In this talk we will discuss geometric features of nonholonomic systems before and after reduction. In particular we will characterize the failure of the Jacobi identity of the nonholonomic bracket, of the reduced bracket and of any “gauge related” bracket. We will present several examples that have the reduced dynamics described by a Poisson bracket. Moreover, in these cases, we will see that first integrals end up being Casimirs of the reduced bracket. That is why we end the talk giving a description of first integrals (induced by the presence of symmetries) using the geometric tools used to characterize the failure of the Jacobi identity.
