Research Activity
During the Ph.D., his research activity has been focused on studying a family of quadratic integral equations arising in transport theory, including the Chandrasekhar H-equation and a pure integral instance of the Boltzmann equation. The main result consists in proving constructively the existence and uniqueness of a positive solution (extending some previous results on decreasing operators, see [1], [2], [3], [4], [5], [7]) and the global convergence of SOR methods [4] . From the point of view of numerical analysis, it has been shown the effectiveness of these choice, with respect to Newton and Broyden methods.
Afterwards, he studied fast solvers for nonlinear integral equations by approximating the action of the nonlinear operator (and not the kernel) by Chebyshev series [8]. Numerical experiments show good speed-ups (ranging between 10 and 40) with respect to a basic Nystrom-Broyden solver [9]-[10].
Furthermore he worked on problems about integration on the surface of a sphere [12] and some Galerkin methods for semilinear elliptic equations [13], integration by RBF and cubature on polygonal domains (see [14]-[19]).
Recently he is working on Padua Points, approximate Fekete points on general 2D domains, quadrature and cubature over curvilinear bivariate domains.
He also worked on other research subject, as fast summation of power series [8], bivariate approximation via Chebyshev series [11] and some dissipativity results in C* - algebras [6].
