ERCIM Working Group on Constraints/ CompulogNet Area on "Constraint programming" WORKSHOP on CONSTRAINTS Theme: applications of constraint programming and constraint technology www.math.unipd.it/~frossi/padova.html Padova, Italy June 19-21, 2000 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ This will be the 2000 annual workshop of the CompulogNet (Esprit Network of Excellence on Computational Logic, http://www.compulog.org) area on "Constraint Programming", coordinated by Francesca Rossi, and the fifth meeting of the ERCIM working group on "Constraints" (http://www.cwi.nl/projects/ercim-wg.html) coordinated by Krzysztof R. Apt. The workshop is open for all researchers. It is jointly organized by: Krzysztof R. Apt, CWI, Amsterdam, the Netherlands (K.R.Apt@cwi.nl) Eric Monfroy, CWI, Amsterdam, the Netherlands (eric@cwi.nl) Francesca Rossi, University of Padova, Italy (frossi@math.unipd.it) with support from CompulogNet and ERCIM. This workshop will cover all aspects of constraints (solving and propagation algorithms, programming languages, new formalisms, novel techniques for modelling, experiments, ... ), with particular emphasis on applications. The authors of theoretical papers are encouraged to investigate and discuss a possible use of their work in practice. Call for Papers: --------------- We would like to invite authors to submit extended abstracts (preferably maximum 6 pages long) on ongoing research on constraints, with preference on Applications of Constraint Programming and Constraint Technology. We also encourage submission of position papers that would suggest possible new application areas. The submission deadline is April 15. Please send an electronic version of the abstract, in the form of a postscript file, to the ERCIM working group secretary: Eric Monfroy (eric@cwi.nl). Authors will be notified of acceptance/rejection by May 1. Program: ------- Besides the accepted papers, we plan to have three invited talks on various application areas for constraints. Student Grants: -------------- We hope to obtain a couple of grants for students. News will be posted on the workshop web site. Location: -------- The workshop will take place at the Department of Pure and Applied Mathematics (http://www.math.unipd.it/) of the University of Padova (http://www.unipd.it/), Via Belzoni 7, Padova, Italy. ~
