The meeting will take place at CIRM
(a French scientific center devoted
to seminars and located in Luminy, near Marseille).
Sequences and series (convergent or divergent) are used in numerical
analysis (iterative methods, quadratures, Fourier series, web search,
regularization, etc.), and in many applied sciences (for example, for the
computation of special functions) . When the convergence of a sequence is
slow, it can be transformed into a new sequence converging faster, under
some assumptions, to the same limit by an extrapolation method. When a
series is obtained as the solution of a certain problem, it could
approximated by a rational function (for example, a Padé approximant),
thus leading to better results, and even to its summation by analytic
continuation.
The aim of this pluridisciplanary meeting is to bring together
researchers coming out from various fields (physics, chemistry, medicine,
mathematics, numerical analysis, control, economics, etc.) in order to
exchange ideas, methods, and applications.
The participation to this event is only by invitation and people will be contacted directly.
