Seminario di Algebra: “Recent progress on the homological conjectures in commutative algebra”

Mercoledì 12 Aprile 2017, ore 12:00 - Aula 1AD100 - Yves André

Mercoledì 12 Aprile 2017 alle ore 12:00 in Aula 1AD100, Yves André (Directeur de Recherche du CNRS at Paris 6 -Jussieu) terrà un seminario dal titolo “Recent progress on the homological conjectures in commutative algebra”.

The homological conjectures form a skein of statements more or less connected to local cohomology and originating from problems in intersection theory in the 70’s. One of them is the Direct Summand Conjecture (M. Hochster 1973) which states that every (commutative noetherian) regular ring R is a direct summand, as R-module, of any finite ring extension.
After a presentation of these conjectures in their historical context, we shall outline recent progresses obtained through the theory of perfectoid spaces in p-adic Hodge theory (including the Direct Summand Conjecture).
