Seminario: “Interior Transmission Eigenvalue Problems”

Mercoledì 20 Settembre 2017, ore 16:00 - Aula 2BC30 - Andreas Kirsch

Mercoledì 20 Settembre 2017 alle ore 16:00 in Aula 2BC30, Andreas Kirsch (Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Germania) terrà una conferenza dal titolo “Interior Transmission Eigenvalue Problems”.

Interior transmission eigenvalue problems appeared for the first time in 1985 during the investigation of the far field operator corresponding to scattering problems for penetrable media. After the publication of fundamental results on existence of (real) eigenvalues in 2008 the interest in this new class of non-selfadjoint eigenvalue problems has grown considerably. In this talk I consider the simplest cases and report on discreteness and existence of real and - for special cases - complex eigenvalues.
