Short biography
Olivia was born in 1971 in Rome.
Before turning to computer science Olivia studied
mathematics dedicating herself to algebra in particular. She
graduated at the University of Rome La Sapienza under the
supervision of Claudio Procesi, writing a thesis on the
equivariant cohomology of the flag manifold. As a graduate
student, still in Rome, she studied some problems on quantum
groups, with the help of Corrado De Concini and Claudio
Procesi. She deepened her knowledge of quantum groups during
her stay in Strasbourg as a post-doc in 1999, before moving to Edinburgh.
In Scotland she began working on artificial intelligence
starting a collaboration which lasted for years. In 2005 she
got a position at the University of Padova.
