Inverse Problem of pollution rate estimation



We are studying the numerical solution of a particular inverse problem which consists in the estimation of both the localization of the source of pollution and its rate emission,  assuming to know  the concentration at the outflow.  Given a suitable parametrization, a sparse vector of parameters is estimated, using an algorithm based on Gauss-Newton strategy.
