Short Curriculum Vitae
Maria Morandi Cecchi is Full Professor of Numerical Analysis since 1980: she belongs to the Department of Pure and Applied Mathematics at the University of Padova since 1983.
She has been member of the CNR (National Bureau of Science) since 1960 and Associate Professor at the University of Pisa, where she graduated in Pure Mathematics and where she obtained her "Libera Docenza" in Numerical Analysis.
After her role of Assitant Professor for three years at the Purdue University West Lafayette Indiana (USA) and Visiting Professor in several American and European, she has been invited several times to the Massachusset Insitute of Technology (USA), to the University of Texas at Austin (USA), to the Universidad de Concepcion (Chile), to the University of Chou (Japan), to the University of Macau (People's Republic of China) and to the Seoul National University (South Korea), organizing conferences and presenting results.
She has been member of the Organizing Scientific Committee of more than fifteen Italian and International Conferences, the most relevant regarding the Finite Element Methods in Fluids. Moreover, she collaborated to the editorial board with the role of Editor of the Proceedings of these
conferences.
She is part of the editors's group of the international journal "Computational Methods in Applied Mechanics and Engineering", Elsevier.
Member of various Ph.D. and Exams Committee of the University of Napoli (Italy), Padova (Italy), Nice (France) and Lille (France), in 2002 the was nominated "Fellow" of the International Association for Computational Mechanics.
Her scientific research interests are in Numerical Analysis and, precisely, they include the numerical solution of partial differential equations.
More particularly, she works on the Finite Element Method, applied to fluid dynamics, on approximation theory with numerical applications and on parallel computing.
She wrote more than 150 papers and some books.
