IEEE ISCC/DENVECT'16 PROGRAMMEJun 27th, 2016 - Messina, Italy - Venue - Building of Economy A4 (Map)9:00-9:30 Keynote Speech Chair: Prof. Armir Bujari (University of Padova, Italy) Title: Cloud and Edge Computing for Interactive Media and Digital Entertainment Speaker: Prof. Maria Fazio (University of Messina, Italy) Abstract: Advances in technology and consumer behavior are driving a transformation in the way media and entertainment are delivered to consumers. Contents we demand, including social networking, 3D TV as well as live TV, are enriched with several types of information, thus to offer new experiences in digital entertainment. Cloud will play an increasingly pivotal role in the delivery of content-rich services to multiple consumers. Indeed, it allows to efficiently analyze consumer preferences and add resource capacity in high workloads. From the point of view of service providers, Cloud allows to quickly set up of end-to-end digital supply and to lower barriers to enter the market, so that also SME can rapidly create and deliver innovative services to consumers. Edge Computing is an advancement of Cloud computing, where resources and services are deployed close to customers. Application developers and content providers offers a local service delivery with very low latency, high scalability and low network costs. This talk aims to discuss benefits and challenges of Cloud and Edge technologies in Interactive Media and Digital Entertainment solutions, highlighting business trends and design approaches. Short Bio: Maria Fazio is Adjunct Professor at the Università di Messina (Italy). Her main research interests include distributed systems, especially with regard to wireless multi-hop networks, Grid and Cloud computing. Her research work has been accomplished in collaboration with many national and international research groups, and she has been involved in several national and European projects. She is co-editor in chief of EAI Endorsed Transactions on Cloud Systems, member of the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Business Data Communications and Networking (IGI Publishing), and member of the Editorial Board of the EAI Endorsed Transactions on Smart Cities.
