On Going Activities in 2018

Currenly work on:

I am currently working on improving the Recommender System proposed in the Gamification project by utilizing Player Modeling concept. In particular, we try to use Unsupervised Learning to obtain the style of player's type aimed to advance the personalization in game. This helps the system in game adaptation at enhancing the engagement of the player for a longer term.

Activities During My PhD Program

PhD Project:

In the context of smart city, I started to collaborate with DAS unit in a gamification project at FBK in Trento (Italy). In this project, I worked on a smart recommender system that can recommend a/set of personalized challenges (a challenge is an important element of gamification) to players/citizens. The aim of these challenges is to motivate citizens to use more sustainable transportations. In this project we use gamification mechanism to incentivise people to use more green transportation).

Collaboration

Drexel University:

As the part of my PhD program and in the direction of enhancing Gamification effectiveness, I started to work with Dr. Santiago Ontanon at College of Computing & Informatics in Drexel University, Philadelphia, USA since August 2017. In Drexel we started to work on an automatic framework that enables the system to dynamically extract players' play styles during the game that have value in game adaption, as well as players engagement in the game.
