Biography
Stefano De Marchi is a mathematician working in numerical analysis and approximation theory. His research connects multivariate polynomial approximation, radial basis functions, rational approximation, scientific computing, and applications in medical and scientific imaging.
He studied Mathematics and Applied Mathematics at the University of Padova and obtained a PhD in Computational Mathematics in 1994. After appointments at the Universities of Udine and Verona, he joined the University of Padova, where he became Full Professor of Numerical Analysis.
His work includes contributions to Padua points, stable kernel bases, greedy point selection, mapped and variably scaled kernels, barycentric rational interpolation, persistent homology and data reconstruction.
Since October 2025, Full Professor of Numerical Analysis at the Department of Medicine, University of Padova, with an international affiliation at Selçuk University.
