Description
Visible Light Communication (VLC) represents a turning point for next-generation communications thanks to its resistance to interference and greater bandwidth compared to its radio frequency counterpart. Among the various application scenarios, VLC is widely used in Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) communications, where currently available in-vehicle devices (e.g., headlights) can be used to implement a communication system. Given the sensitivity of this application scenario, ensuring message dissemination throughout the vehicular network while providing an adequate level of communication security is crucial.
With this in mind, the VisiCar project proposes three key objectives: 1) developing an energy harvesting system to power the receiver during VLC communication, 2) leveraging the physical layer of communication and the characteristics of VLC transceivers to implement secure communications, and 3) validating the first two objectives on a realistic testbed. VisiCar will therefore have a direct impact on these emerging technologies, with the aim of being integrated into commercial V2X solutions, increasing both their efficiency and safety.
