“Methods for Complex Network Analysis”

Giovedì 23 Aprile 2026, ore 14:30 - Aula 2BC30 - Matteo Bergamaschi (Padova, Dip. Mat.)

Abstract

The spread of information across complex networks has emerged as a central topic in today’s data-driven world, giving rise to numerous challenging optimization problems. In this talk, I will introduce two fundamental problems in this domain: influence maximization and technology diffusion. Both problems focus on identifying key agents (nodes) that are most effective at propagating influence throughout a network. After a short review of classical approaches used to address these problems, I will introduce a novel methodology, Network Adaptive Direct Search. Finally, I will discuss a potential extension of the influence maximization framework to applications in public finance.

The video of the seminar will appear shortly afterwards in this Mediaspace channel.
